Clinaltec signs the university hospital agreement with the Government and the University of Tolima

Clinaltec, the Government of Tolima, and the University of Tolima signed a framework agreement to transform the Federico Lleras Acosta Hospital into a university hospital and train medical specialists in the department.

The agreement was announced in January 2025 by Governor Adriana Magali Matiz. On behalf of Clinaltec, it was signed by Diana Lorena Giraldo, the institution's Research and Teaching Manager.

Train those who serve in the region in the region

The core issue behind the agreement is the shortage of specialists. A department with high cancer rates needs oncologists, surgeons, and subspecialists, and until now, anyone wanting to train in those areas had to leave Tolima—and frequently did not return. A university hospital changes that equation: training takes place where the need is.

The specialties contemplated include Reconstructive Surgery, Oncological Plastic Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Surgery, in addition to oncological subspecialties. Clinaltec has expressed its interest in opening medical specializations in oncology that are not currently offered in the country.
